On mygbedulist today, we will be talking about Nigeria’s hottest artistes in this second quarter of 2019. I will be presenting to you the musicians in Nigeria, who have worked so hard to stay consistent and some have worked their way to the top by putting out great contents.
This list will be talking about not only the artiste’s songs but also what they have managed to use their brand to achieve in the past 3 months. Most of the artistes in this list are new to our ranking, why some have changed places, which is due to their hard work and consistency.
For some time now, we have seen a lot of young stars growing to become a brand, leaving their mark on music lovers. Some now even have great fan base that the so-called A-List musicians cannot brag of. Names on this list may bring up argument but like I will always advice, research is the only thing that will make the world a better place. Do your findings and you will see every names in the list deserve to be here.
2019 Second Quarter: Meet The 10 Hottest Artistes in Nigeria Right Now!
1. Zlatan Ibile.
The Zanku creator retain his previous position as number one hottest artiste in the country right now. Without any argument, I can strongly tell you with fact that, Zlatan is the most headlined artiste in the country also.
Aside is consistency in putting out hit after hit, he is also the most featured musician as long as 2019 is concerned. This is probably because there is a juice in his sound that every other artiste wants.
So far Zlatan has succeeded in staying strong, regardless of any challenges that may have come his way. He was part of one of the biggest street anthems “Am I a yahoo boy”, a song that led to his arrest, yet this didn’t stop him from coming out to drop “4 days in okotie eboh”.
Just when we were still trying to welcome him, he released the banging single “This year”, a song with great content that shows the artiste is here to stay. Zlatan will stay relevant for a long time as long as the Zanku dance move is still the only dance move the country can brag of right now.
2. Fireboy DML.
This young lad is worth every hype and support, regardless of the number of songs he has done, I’m proud to say Fireboy is on fire.
Fireboy is a new entry on mygbedylist and his has found himself sitting on the second position. This is because he is the most celebrated and most talked about upcoming artiste in the country now. His fame is a few months old but he is sounding like he has been in the game for ages. His super hit single “Jealous” is enough to prove that he has what it takes to be a great star, but that isn’t all.
The song got biggest stars (Wizkid, Davido, Tiwa Savage and Olamide) in the country vibing nonstop. There is no function or club you go to in Nigeria, that you won’t feel the “Jealous” fever. Fireboy just dropped a new single “What if I say”, the song just confirms he is here to stay. Fireboy’s song “Jealous” got global music producer, SwizzBeat dancing, the song even got the attention of American singer Ciara and her husband.
3. Burna Boy.
The self-acclaimed African Giant, Burna Boy has succeeded in planting his name in the lips of every music lover. Despite his rough lifestyle, music lovers still find his craft so interesting and mind blowing.
Burna Boy’s album, “Steel and Copper” has done well to keep the singer active and staying stronger. Tracks like “Freedom”, Darko, 34 and “Innocent man” from the album keeps beating hard in the heart of his fan and music lovers. His recent single “Anybody”, has already started to gain airplay and spreading uncontrollable vibe across the continent.
His Coachella’s performance was a massive shutdown, an event that also help improved the artiste’s profile. His relationship with British singer Steff London is also growing stronger, just recently the Burna Boy won the African best artiste at the Vodacom Ghana Music Award.
Starboy Record’s boss, Wizkid made it to the 4th position on this list, as a result of the effort he has been putting in for some months now. Wizkid, who is still working of his “Made in a Lagos” album, haven’t stopped blessing others with mind blowing collaborations.
Wizkid has the strongest collaboration effect right now in the country, if you do your research very well you’ll understand what i am talking about. The singer blessed Larry Gaaga with the biggest song “Low” of his career so far. When you go to Larry Gaaga’s YouTube channel, you will see that the 1-month old video has surpassed 6 million views already.
He did the same with his official disc jockey, DJ Tunez featured Wizkid on his smashing hit record “Gbese”. The recent collaboration “Totori” with YBNL boss, Olamide and Coded Tune boss, ID Cabasa is the song on everyone’s lips right. Trust me, you don’t want to argue the power of that song right now. This is the Wizkid effect!
When you mention this name, you don’t have to say much because “Daz how stars do”. Skiibii is currently living the life that no one ever imagined he was going to live. Just when everyone was trying to write the young star off, he came out to splash everyone with back to back hits.
Skiibii has become a household name and fans favorite, especially after the release of his recent smashing single “Daz how stars do”. The song is the current social media trending slogan, with every musician in the country jumping on it to give their own vibe to it.
6. Kizz Daniel.
Flyboy Inc.’s boss, Kizz Daniel currently sits at number 6 on this list, after seeing his consistent dedication and hard work. For the past few months now Kizz Daniel has been on a very hot form, dropping hit songs, great music videos and selling out concerts.
Kizz is currently on tour, yet he is still taking his time to serve his fans with great music. He recently dropped the visual to his smashing single “Poko”, shortly after his massive hit single “Fvck you”. Just when everyone thought he need to cool off, he came back with a mad single titled “EKO”, a song which tells the story of Lagos life and the daily struggles we all have to go through to survive.
Kizz Daniel is not going cold anytime soon, with this his current form don’t be surprise to see him being nominated for the BET Award next year. His recent collaboration “Ello Baby” with Young John and Tiwa is currently buzzing on every music chart.
Mavin Record’s new kid, Rema is probably the youngest baller in the industry right now. The young star is fast becoming a force to reckon with, from just doing trap freestyle to becoming a top Afro pop Prince.
According to many, Rema is the sure replacement for Wizkid, if he eventually slides of track. Since the young star, Rema came to limelight, he hasn’t given music lovers a single breathing space because if he is not putting out records, he is definitely freestyling. Just recently his “Rema Freestyle” album made history on Apple music, with 4 of his songs making the top ten ranking including his buzzling single “Dumebi” making it 5 songs appearing on the Apple Music top ten.
Rema has also become a big headliner, with the energy of being able to grow and maintain a strong fan page, which is made up of so many ladies. He headlined the Arise Fashion Week alongside Wizkid, he also headlined the Homecoming, which housed a great multitude. Shout out to D’Prince and Don Jazzy for raising a small god.
8. Naira Marley.
I know this name may come as a shock to many, yes, Naira Marley is one of the hottest musicians in the country right now. When you think of an artiste leaving this real star life, you think of Naira Marley.
Naira Marley, has proven to the world that music has to be a means of sending message, negative or positive. This young man is known as the wave creator and he does that with great courage, which some other stars lack. The “Issa goal” crooner has done well in trying to fit into the shoes of the legendary Afro pop king, Fela Kuti.
A lot of musicians will tell you they are following the Fela bloodline, both trust me, you follow that bloodline from outside the wall of jail. If you have never faced government assort in Nigeria, as a singer who sings for the people then you can’t fit into Fela’s bloodline.
His song “Am I a yahoo boy” with Zlatan is unarguably one of the biggest street songs, despite being locked up for almost a month, the song didn’t stop growing. From jail he released two mad hits “Why” and “Opotoyi”. Naira Marley is the most talked about musician in the country now, even after he was released from jail, he is still the most sorted artiste in the country.
YBNL boss, Olamide is indeed something else, he never gets tired of making hit. Whether the song makes sense or not, Baddo is always ready to stay consistence. Olamide’s stay on this list could also be influenced by the rise of his new signee, Fireboy DML, who just made it to our number two spot.
Aside making one of the biggest artistes (Fireboy) in the country right now, the rapper turned pop star, is still feeding the street with great songs and street demand. His latest banging single “Oil and Gas”, is currently the official street anthem, with a massive acceptance. Olamide has proven to be very important and relevant, despite leaving his original genre behind to pursue the pop life.
When you talk of musician with guts, the only artiste that comes to mind is, Falz The Bhad Guy. He has gone to the point, where his music serves as the real gospel to music lovers, especially those fans that understand what good music is all about.
Falz has done so well for the last 3 months, dropping songs, involving in smashing collaborations, acting and shutting down his annual “Falz Experience 2” concert. The last few months for Falz has been really amazing and he seems to be coming out strong too. His recent single “Alakori” featuring Dice Ailes is fast becoming a mega hit, his appearance on Skiibii’s “Daz how stars do” and “Oga” and Boj’s “Awolowo rmx” turned these songs to a major hit.
He was also featured on Ice Prince’s hit single “Feel good”, a song that seems to bring life back to Ice Prince. Falz is unarguably one of the most important musicians in Nigeria in this quarter no doubt.
A lot of fans will come for this list, but be sure to know the argument you are bringing in to counter the names on this list. We know there are other great musicians out there putting in a lot of work just to please the fans.
Stars like, Teni, Peruzzi, Simi, Adekunle Gold, Ycee, T-Classic, Yung6ix and Victor AD are doing well for themselves and they are complete fans favorite but this list just need more. Every single musician in this list has been doing so much, from singing to personal lifestyle, which is also a very important part of an entertainer.
