Danzo Oluwafemi is the CEO of Oh31 Entertainment. In this interview with MYGBEDUTV, he talks about the Nigeria entertainment industry and the plans he has for upcoming artistes
Can you please tell us a little about yourself and your entertainment company/project? What do you do?, how do you do it?, why do you do it and who do you do it for?
My names are Danzo Oluwafemi Kouton, a graduate of political science from Tai Solarin University of Education. I was born and breed in Lagos, Mushin to be precise.
Oh31 Entertainment is a brand that deals in all spheres of entertainment and media, Showbiz, Artiste Management and Promotion and Record Labeling.
When you started out in the entertainment business, what specific idea, purpose or vision was your key driving force?
Oh31 Entertainment Started back in 2012 when I was into music myself. When it all started it wasn’t really seen as business, I was just a normal guy who had passion for music and entertainment and knowing fully well that with good delivery we would get fame and money.
How has the journey been since starting your company? Were there any key incidents or life changing events that inspired your decision to become an entertainment entrepreneur?
Oh31 Entertainment has held so many shows right from my time as STUDENT UNION Social Director in TASUED, having also worked with so many talented artistes and many top entertainment brands and labels in and out of the country. So I just had to continue pushing and thank God for grace and relevance. We’re doing fine.
What kind of artistes do you work with and why do you choose to work with them?
Before we get to work with any artistes or individual first you have to be hard working and talented and ready to improve.
We don’t work with musicians alone.
The only act in our brand is a Mc, named Mc Bam (Abiola Adurangba Obasoro) and he’s doing very well, representing the brand, he got signed January 2019. We also work and partner with individuals outside our label on their projects.
What’s the one thing that makes your company truly revolutionary within the Nigerian music industry?
Both on the local and international scene we have no problem and we can’t be brushed aside. We know what we are doing and what we have to offer.
Since launching your entertainment company, What would you describe as your major setbacks and what lessons did you pick from them?
The competition is much; I’d say finance because it’s important in pursuit of the hustle. The lesson learnt is that the race is for the strong. And we’re not giving up.
